Making the Most of Every Moment

For my upcoming weekend trip to Philly, I’ve decided to fully engage myself in the concept of getting away to get some rest, so for me, that doesn’t mean leaving early Friday morning and sitting in rush hour traffic as I make my way through Stamford, CT, NYC and the rest of the route along the Eastern Seaboard. So I’ve decided to take the train. Good ole Amtrak!
As I was planning, I figured out that for the price of gas, tolls and hotel parking (approx. $277.45), I can sit for 3 hours on a train and relax with my kindle and enjoy the ride. As for getting around Philly, it’s a metropolitan city so their transit system is more than adequate for any plans beyond walking distance. And for the evening, catching a taxi ride back to the hotel would still be cheaper than the overall cost to drive and park.
Finally, to add a little more excitement to my train ride, I’ve decided to make an early investment in a monopod and I plan to photograph the train station signs when the doors open for each stop. Now, I don’t exactly know how this will work out on Friday morning as it will be peak hours on the train and therefore crowded with commuters, but I’m going to try and get my photography on anyway and hopefully I won’t lose my seat…or my balance!
