As noted, brunch is a great opportunity for good girlfriends to catch up! If you don't know, having a good girlfriend is a sho nuff gift from God! A good girlfriend will keep you honest, keep your secrets and keep you encouraged! And, if your good girlfriend is also a foodie, then she can also recommend some great spots to chat and chew and that's how we ended up at Lena's for this catch-up session!

Tasha lives local and had been to Lena's on plenty of occasions so she let me know that the wait would be long, but the food well worth it. She said, and I touched and agreed, that's it's a good thing that the wait is long because the food is so delicious and the portions so great, that if we ate there too often that we'd be complaining, all the more, about needing to go on a diet! Again, touched and agreed! (Amen for those who don't know!)

Located in a relatively small space on Whalley Ave in New Haven, Lena's decor is eclectic and the customers ranged from the after church crowd, to the hipsters, to the local college students (New Haven is a college city!) and then there was us just needing good food and a place to catch up on each other's lives! And so, since it was just the two us, we were seated at a small table, but by golly after we saw the menu it was clear that we were gonna need more space... but, nonetheless, we made room and there was no shame in our game for how our table runneth over with food and beverages!

We ordered blood orange and mango mimosa, I also had the hot chocolate (because of how whimsical it looked when the server walked passed with it to another table - it was delicious), the lemon curd pancakes were heavenly and Tasha had a special which included fish, grits, eggs and jalapeño poppers!

I can't remember how much we paid, but the service was great and we left happy and full!

Here's a link to LENA'S CAFE AND CONFECTIONS for all the scrumptious details... ENJOY!!
